ABOUT William Crowder


William joined the Catalyst Fund in 2012 and has helped shape its structure and investment strategy. A former bootstrapped entrepreneur himself, William’s early stage experience also extends to his involvement with DreamIt Ventures, a global startup accelerator, where he is a partner.

EXPERIENCE

Prior to joining the Catalyst Fund, William was the founder of a strategy and business development company that focused on guiding traditional media companies into the digital media arena. Before launching his own venture, he served as Director of Strategy and Business Development at AOL, where he was responsible for restructuring the online advertising sales unit and building a unified group serving AOL’s owned and operated properties and its advertising networks. While at AOL, he was instrumental in integrating the acquisitions of several early stage tech companies including TACODA, Quigo and Third Screen Media.

EDUCATION

William holds an M.B.A. from the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University and bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Computer Science from North Carolina State University, where he was an IBM research fellow.

ABOUT Kai Bond


Kai leads investing for Catalyst Fund, an investment fund dedicated to diverse and underrepresented founders.  He also leads the efforts for Comcast Ventures consumer seed and frontier tech investing in New York City.  

EXPERIENCE

Prior to Comcast Ventures, Kai was the General Manager of the Samsung Accelerator in NYC.  Kai invested and incubated products focused on consumer applications, virtual and augmented reality, artificial intelligence and machine learning, and enterprise IOT.  Kai is a repeat entreprenuer, having founded several companies, including pixtietv, a publishing platform for Smart TV applications which was acquired by Samsung’s Smart TV division in 2014.  Previously, Kai has held product management, business development, and M&A roles at Microsoft, Hatch Labs, IAC/InterActiveCorp, and Gerson Lehrman Group. 

EDUCATION

Kai graduated with a B.A. degree from Wesleyan University.
